Below is a list of Engineering Materials
Durable Resin

//Smooth, impact-resistant resin for functional prototypes with a polished, production-like finish.

Durable Resin is a tough, flexible engineering resin designed for parts that need to absorb impact, resist wear, and maintain a smooth, glossy surface finish — closely mimicking the look and feel of polypropylene. It is well-suited for consumer-facing functional prototypes, snap-fit assemblies, and components that require repeated contact without surface degradation.

While Tough 1000 Resin has replaced it as the primary choice for high-performance ductile applications, Durable Resin remains a strong option for applications where surface finish and a polished, production-like appearance are as important as mechanical performance. Its low friction surface makes it particularly useful for sliding, mating, or contact surfaces where smoothness directly affects part function.

Durable Resin is well-suited for product designers and engineers who need functional prototypes with a smooth, finished appearance and resistance to repeated impact and wear.

Key Benefits

  • Tough, flexible formulation that absorbs impact and resists wear over repeated use cycles
  • Smooth, glossy surface finish that closely mimics polypropylene for production-like prototypes
  • Low friction surface ideal for sliding, mating, and contact surfaces
  • Suitable for snap fits, wearable components, consumer product prototypes, and functional assemblies

ESD Resin

//Static-dissipative resin for ESD-safe prototypes and production tooling in electronics manufacturing.

ESD Resin is a specialty engineering material designed to safely dissipate electrostatic discharge, protecting sensitive electronic components from static-induced damage in manufacturing and assembly environments. With a surface resistivity of 10⁵–10⁸ Ω, it provides reliable static-dissipative performance across custom jigs, fixtures, trays, and enclosures used on electronics production lines.

Beyond its ESD properties, it delivers ABS-like impact strength and stiffness — with 44.2 MPa tensile strength and 26 J/m notched Izod impact resistance — making it durable enough for repeated use on the factory floor. It also actively repels dust and powder, reducing contamination risk in precision assembly environments. ESD Resin prints, washes, and cures using the same workflow as other Formlabs engineering resins, requiring no special handling.

ESD Resin is well-suited for electronics manufacturers, automation engineers, and production line teams who need custom, on-demand ESD-safe tooling and fixtures without the cost or lead time of outsourced fabrication.

Key Benefits

  • ABS-like impact strength and stiffness for durable, factory-floor-ready parts
  • Actively repels dust and powder to reduce contamination in precision assembly environments
  • Ideal for ESD-safe jigs, trays, fixtures, and component enclosures
  • Standard print, wash, and cure workflow — no special handling required

High Temp Resin

//Highest heat deflection temperature in the Formlabs library for thermal testing and hot flow applications.

High Temp Resin is Formlabs’ most heat-resistant SLA material, with a heat deflection temperature of 238°C at 0.45 MPa — making it the right choice for parts and tooling that operate in high-temperature environments where standard engineering resins would fail. It is specifically designed for applications involving hot air, gas, and fluid flow, as well as heat-resistant mounts, housings, and manufacturing fixtures that must maintain dimensional stability under sustained thermal load.

With a 49 MPa ultimate tensile strength and 95 MPa flexural strength post-cured, it delivers solid mechanical performance alongside its thermal resistance. Key Benefits

  • Heat deflection temperature of 238°C — the highest of any Formlabs SLA resin
  • Designed for hot air, gas, and fluid flow applications
  • 49 MPa ultimate tensile strength and 95 MPa flexural strength post-cured
  • Ideal for heat-resistant mounts, housings, fixtures, and thermal testing components
  • Maintains dimensional stability under sustained thermal load
