Elastomeric Materials

Below is a list of Elastomeric Materials
Silicone 40A Resin

//The first 100% pure silicone 3D printing material for soft, durable, production-ready parts.

Silicone 40A Resin is Formlabs’ first true silicone 3D printing material, enabled by their patent-pending Pure Silicone Technology. Unlike silicone-like elastomeric resins, it contains no added monomers or acrylates — it is 100% pure silicone, delivering the chemical resistance, thermal stability, and compression set resistance of traditionally cast silicone parts without the tooling cost or lead time.

With a 40A Shore durometer, 230% elongation at break, a tear strength of 12 kN/m, and thermal stability from -25°C to 125°C, it is well-suited for seals, gaskets, grommets, connectors, wearables, grippers, and custom low-volume end-use parts that would otherwise require silicone molding. Parts can achieve fine features as small as 0.3 mm and complex geometries that are difficult or impossible to produce through traditional casting methods.

Silicone 40A Resin is well-suited for engineers and manufacturers who need production-representative silicone parts for functional validation, low-volume manufacturing, or custom applications where traditional molding is cost-prohibitive.

Key Benefits

  • 100% pure silicone — no monomers or acrylates — enabled by Formlabs Pure Silicone Technology
  • 40A Shore durometer for soft, pliable performance comparable to cast silicone
  • 230% elongation at break and 12 kN/m tear strength for durable, flexible end-use parts
  • Excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability from -25°C to 125°C
  • Fine feature resolution down to 0.3 mm for complex geometries
  • Eliminates tooling and casting workflows for custom and low-volume silicone production

Flexible 80A Resin V2

//Resilient elastomeric resin with the look, feel, and function of hard rubber and cast urethane.

Flexible 80A Resin V2 is a tough, tear-resistant elastomer for 3D printing functional prototypes and end-use parts that need to bend, compress, and snap back without permanent deformation. With performance that rivals 80A cast urethanes, TPUs, and hard rubbers, it bridges the gap between resin printing and traditional elastomeric manufacturing — without the tooling, lead time, or cost.

Parts printed in Flexible 80A Resin V2 withstand repeated cycles of bending, tension, and compression while maintaining their shape and structural integrity. A tack-free matte black surface finish makes it well-suited for consumer-facing applications including grips, padding, soft-touch housings, and protective inserts. This V2 formulation leverages the Form 4 Series print engine to deliver significant improvements over the previous version: 2x higher tear strength, 2x higher elongation at break, 4x higher rebound, and improved aesthetics and long-term aging resistance.

Flexible 80A Resin V2 is well-suited for engineers and product designers who need durable, production-representative elastomeric parts for fit and function testing, protective components, or refined soft-touch end-use applications.

Key Benefits

  • Rivals the performance of 80A cast urethanes, TPUs, and hard rubbers
  • 2x higher tear strength compared to Flexible 80A Resin V1
  • 2x higher elongation at break for parts that stretch further without failure
  • 4x higher rebound for responsive, snap-back performance under repeated loading
  • Tack-free matte black surface finish for refined, production-like appearance
  • Improved aging resistance for longer-lasting functional prototypes and end-use parts

Flexible 50A Resin

//Soft, translucent elastomer for prototyping silicone-like and rubber-like parts.

Flexible 50A Resin is a soft, highly elastic 3D printing material with a 50A Shore durometer, designed for parts that need to bend, stretch, and compress repeatedly without tearing or losing their shape. With performance that closely mimics softer rubbers and silicones, it delivers the elasticity and durability needed for demanding flexible applications — without molding or casting workflows.

Parts spring back quickly after deformation and hold up through repeated loading cycles. With 160% elongation at break and a tear strength of 12.3 kN/m, it is well-suited for engineers and product designers who need soft, silicone-like prototypes or end-use parts for wearables, compliant mechanisms, soft-touch assemblies, and flexible enclosures..

Key Benefits

  • 50A Shore durometer for a soft, silicone-like feel and flexible performance
  • 160% elongation at break for parts that stretch significantly without failure
  • Tear strength of 12.3 kN/m for durability through repeated bending and compression
  • Fast springback — parts return to their original shape quickly after deformation
  • Translucent finish allows visual inspection of deformation and internal features
  • Ideal for wearables, compliant mechanisms, soft-touch grips, and flexible enclosures
